Keeping the kids entertained isn’t the easiest task, especially if they are at home for an extended period of time. But don’t despair, there are plenty of ways to keep their minds active and drag them away from the TV. Here are some of the top fun things to do at home with the little ones from our budget hotel in Leeds.

Get involved in online P.E lessons

Joe Wicks aka ‘The Body Coach’ has started to do a P.E class for all the children indoors due to lockdown. Every morning, at 9 am he hosts a live fitness lesson on YouTube to encourage children to get moving in their living room. If you don’t have access to this, why not create your own?

Joe Vicks

Make a blanket fort

Grab any old blankets, sheets, and cushions and make an epic indoor blanket fort! Providing hours of fun, this activity will challenge your kids to get creative with everyday household items. Once made, give them a couple of games to play inside, or let them make up their own!

Bake a cake or batch of cookies

Most kids love to get involved in baking. We understand it can be a little messy but it’s also great fun and can keep the little ones entertained for a couple of hours. Choose something easy like cookies or cupcakes and let them help with weighing ingredients, mixing and of course, decorating. With the promise of a sweet treat at the end, it’s sure to keep them happy!

Baking

Have an arts and crafts day

Dig out the arts and crafts box and let your kids get super creative for the day. Whether they want to draw, paint or make macaroni jewelry, encourage them to be as creative as possible. Maybe set them a challenge or theme and see what they come up with. Whatever you decide, it’s sure to provide hours of fun!

Arts and Crafts

Create a scavenger hunt

Make a list of items and hide them in different rooms of the house, then task the kids with a scavenger hunt. Perfect for rainy days, this activity will keep them busy for at least an hour or so, which should give you some time to get on with any housework or little jobs. Why not offer a prize for finding all the items? It could be a packet of sweets or a chocolate bar.

Two kids playing by a window

Play a board game

Get the whole family together and play a game or two. Whether it’s a night full of board game fun, or just one in the afternoon it’s sure to provide hours of fun. Take a break after each game to avoid the kids (or adults) getting frustrated; we don’t want any tantrums! Not sure what to play? Our hotel in Leeds suggests Scrabble, Monopoly Junior or Guess Who.

Make a family tree

With many of us self-isolating and missing family members right now, it’s the perfect time to do an activity that includes them. Sit down with the little ones and map out your family tree, from grandparents and great grandparents to older ancestors. Challenge the kids to display this in a creative way on a big sheet of paper!

Painting with the kids

In these uncertain times, our budget hotel in Leeds urges you to stay safe, well and at home.

Holiday Inn Express Leeds - East Reviews

Diane,

Galway, Ireland

I stayed here for 2 nights in one of the disabled access rooms. I was staying alone as a wheelchair user, so a little worried about coping with things.

I had no problems whatsoever. The staff were extremely helpful and made my stay a pleasant and comfortable experience. I would certainly stay here again.

David,

Scarborough

No kidding, but within 30 minutes of our arrival we had booked a further visit for later in the year. The surrounding area is very pleasant, the location appears quiet and is convenient for many local sites and attractions. The room, including bed was very comfortable, the staff most helpful.

Breakfast is included in your price here and much to choose from including bacon, sausage, egg, porridge, cereal, muesli, fruit, yogurt etc etc. I find this, for what we paid, hard to beat. We have family nearby so this is a good location and what we paid for what we received excellent value.

Adam,

Leicestershire

On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who sorted everything out. Once we were checked in and got to our rooms, the room was all set out and was very clean. Beds very comfy and price was right, would definitely recommend.

Gayle,

Oulton

I have had the pleasure of staying here three times now and it never fails to impress! The hotel itself is well kept, very clean and tidy. The staff are amazing and just can’t do enough to make you feel welcome.

Breakfast is always hot and fresh, be it yogurt and fruit or full English you will enjoy! Beds are really comfy and the room its-self is great with good blackout curtains.

Simon,

London

I get to stay in a lot of different Holiday Inn's up and down the country, and this surely is one of the best. Great location, spotlessly clean and wonderful staff that couldn't do enough for you. Comfortable refurbished rooms and a great breakfast. What more could you ask for!

David,

Melbourne, Australia

A friendly place to stay with nice rooms, good breakfast and most importantly great staff. Handy for Leeds and York with easy parking and a carvery nearby. What more could you want. Once again I want to stress the really good staff.

Jan,

Edinburgh

A varied group of 5 but the hotel met our requirements well. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, great having free WiFi, and breakfast included. The staff were very helpful and we found it an ideal location for touring around Yorkshire.

Gaynor,

Leeds

Recently stayed at the Holiday Inn East Leeds. Lovely friendly staff and a nice warm welcome. Beautiful clean and cosy rooms. Not one fault with this hotel, free breakfast and a Toby carvery joined on to the hotel, perfect. Paid £55 per night. Well worth it. Will definitely recommend and will stay again.

Aysha,

London

Nice and spacious rooms, bathroom very clean, everything in working order and free breakfast!

Location about 25 mins from Leeds city centre, however worked well for us as just off the motorway so able to get to other locations quickly. Staff very friendly, would definitely come again.

Tracey,

Manchester

Spent a couple of nights here. We stayed in an accessible ground floor room which was great. Very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well.

Continental breakfast is included in the price which was very reasonable. Staff were lovely - sorting out our key card when it stopped working and finding me a nail file when I asked for one.

We went for a meal in Leeds one night and to a reception at Oulton Hall on the other. Staff arranged taxis both times without fuss. A small but perfectly functioning bar was welcome too!
